Archiving/Mothballing...
Here at The Edited Postman, we like to keep our site up to date and constantly updated. However, when a page becomes unpopular and is out of the viewing margins of our audience, it is pointless updating it anymore. So when a page turns like this, we archive it, then place it here.
When does a page get archived?
A site gets archived when it is too unpopular to put the effort into updating it anymore. That's it in a nutshell.
How unpopular does a page have to be to be mothballed/archived?
It depends on the ratio of viewers and updates, and how many it got in the first place. If a page started with 75 views per week, started to update regularly then dipped to a high of 3 viewers per week, it will most likely be deleted and archived here.
Can I still use the archived page?
Yes, but it will never be updated. Plus, you will have to download it as a file - it won't be hosted on this site.
Can a page be un-archived?
Only in extreme circumstances. For some reason if an archived page gets lots of views, it will be re-updated.
Can I request a page to be archived?
No. Only the admins can put a site up for archivation. (if that's a word).
Why not just delete it?
People may still need it for information, research or entertainment.
